Is SSB a Game ? Then how to play it ?
SSB, a game:
Every game has rules. The rules are clear to every party playing the game. In SSB too, you are told about the rules like:
1. Every picture would be displayed on the board for 30 seconds
2. Only 4 minutes are given to write a story
3. Word would be shown for only 15 seconds
4. For reaction, 30mins are allotted overall
5. You cannot touch the red mark in GTO
6. If you cannot do an individual task fully, zero marks would be given
etc.
So, SSB has got a lot of rules. We are all players in the 5 day game. The referees are the assessors. They decide who played the best; who didn't perform well and who didn't participate much. But this game is little different from the rest of the games. Here a third person cannot really judge who did well and who didn't. We, the players, sometimes judge others on the basis of our rationality. Like someone who is not confident enough in life would obviously give more marks to the person who spoke fluently without hesitation and would probably believe that "He/she must get recommended". Well, the bad news is that most of the time we are FAR away from doing real assessment. Only a person trained from DRDO would know how much marks to give and who did well and was natural and wasn't faking things. The assessors have their own apparatus (their own trap). With every task (like every chemical in the lab), they put the candidate and see the personality (the colour change). They are all scientists you can say! Their work is to observe, like a referee does. Though the thing is like other games, the referee stops you or the match in case of discrepancy but here they just NOTE it down in their observation sheet. They are like CCTV camers who just records but with intelligence. Suppose i have to check your food eating habit, i would call you home for dinner and then put everything on the dinner table like organic veggies, pizza, coke, lassi, curd etc. and would just wait for you to eat (or play this game). The moment you choose to eat by hands everything, i would probably take you to not having dinner manners. The moment you eat pizza and fast food only, I would probably note that this person is not having a healthy life. The moment you stick to a balanced diet, things will be different. The moment you become shy while taking food, I would assess you a little differently. If you ask me to have food first, I would probably take you to be a more sanskari person who respects people. So, one TASK got me a lot of observations. Yet, the guest wasn't aware of it. The SSB ASSESSORS that's why don't reveal how they give marks and by saying or doing what things! They just say to improve your personality, and everything would automatically be taken care of. It is just like me saying to the GUEST that you have a well mannered behaviour and should eat healthy. Now whenever he/she comes to my house, he is BOUND to fetch better marks in food habits and the like. So, we are all put in a game. The rules are told to us. But markings are not given! Every GD, GPE, IO, TAT, WAT is a game. We are judged on responses. The PGT is a set of 4 different level games. The tasks are put in front and who decides whose effective intelligence was better? Well the umpire! Who know "WHY SUCH AND SUCH A CANDIDATE TOOK LEFT AND NOT RIGHT FOR THIS TASK", "WHY HE/SHE THOUGH HAD A PLAN DIDN'T SPEAK UP", "THOUGH HE KNOWS THAT OTHERS' IDEA IS BETTER, WHY HE/SHE IS DOMINANT" etc. So, suppose if you want to check someone's "Tech-savviness", you would give him a laptop and give him some commands. The WAY HE OPERATES, YOU WOULD KNOW HOW HE/SHE IS. This is just a game! Every question asked by the IO is also like this. He asks with an intention and whatever responses he gets, he asks himself "WHY". Whatever comes to his mind (after training or otherwise), he/she writes in an observation sheet. For e.g. "How many friends do you have?". To this, the candidate replies sir! only one friend. Now the IO gets some hints. What all? 1. Maybe he considers only one to be truthful and doesn't trust others
2. Maybe he is talking about his best friend, and maybe having other friends too 3. Maybe he has some problem adjusting with strangers 4. Maybe the candidate is TRYING to be too simple by saying that he doesn't have much of a social life and he is very serious about career etc. SO whatever maybe the exact reason, the IO keeps these things in mind. And then clarifies it later on! It doesn't depend on one answer how you would be judged but by your nature. A man with a social nature, would automatically have no problem in OLQ of "social adaptability". "Kahin na kahin IO would be getting some strong cue that you are a social person". Anyways, so, the game of SSB is NOT imbibed in the RULES which are given to you, BUT BY THE RULES AND MARKINGS THAT THEY DIDN'T SHARE. If they would have shared the whole things, then players would have masked themselves and portrayed themselves as someone ELSE. This would have defeated the whole purpose. It would be an infringement to a nation's security as well. They need Leaders! So, the next time you play this game, be a good player. If you are confident, you are confident everywhere. If you are a good planner, you will be planning good everywhere. So, its less about SHOWING in SSB, but Most important is to BE. BE a person with qualities so that they CAN RECOMMEND saying "Yes, this person is SUITABLE FOR DEFENCE FORCES". Most importantly Play this game fair.
