How to clear TAT easily in SSB interview ?
When you write the TAT in psychology in your ssb or while doing practice at home, just keep in mind a simple rule. This rule shall make your story come alive, make it look grounded, reasonable and natural. Every picture that is shown to you contains some characters in the picture (even when you imagine a character from outside when there is no character in the picture shown).Who is this character? Is it someone in the picture which you through your thoughts give him actions? Is it your friend? Who is he? Well, he is no one but you. He is YOU. Now the rule is simple and that is: IF I WAS THERE IN THE PICTURE, WHAT WOULD I HAVE DONE? "AGAR MAIN HOTA, TOH KYA KARTA?" When you ask yourself this question and when you imagine yourself THAT CHARACTER, the things in the picture become more lively! The solutions become more profound. The picture NOW becomes ALIVE. We all have seen the picture of a farmer who is standing beside his barren land. Now thoughts aren't much clear at this stage to us. We are assuming that farmer is only "HE" and not "ME". This is where the problem starts. Now I ask you all to close your eyes, imagine YOURSELF, as a farmer, who is standing near his barren land. Just imagine the air blowing. Feel the clothes. See the land by YOURSELF which is lying barren. You are there! What will you do to make the land Green again? Ask yourself: "Main hota toh kya karta?" (if I was there, what would I have done). Don't imagine any THIRD PERSON as the farmer! YOU are the farmer. Now what in reality you would have done (using your experiences in life, reasoning etc.), JUST DO THOSE THINGS ONLY! Don't do actions which you think WILL LOOK GOOD, but THOSE WHICH YOU WOULD HAVE DONE! In this way the story looks natural. Now ask yourself "If I was near a cannon, what would I have done?" (refer to picture of TAT in which cannon is shown). If some near and dear had died, what would I have done? (Picture in which someone is dead and you are in the hospital). Psychologists assume that whatever you think the character will do, is what you will do! But being a philosopher, I would like to advice you "You are the character. Now whatever you will do is what you have done in actuality". This makes the image more lively. You just have to write the names of characters. But you are the character. So YOU as SHYAM, what steps you will be taking? We are all CAPABALE ENOUGH TO THINK WHAT WE CAN DO because I believe we are all MATURE ENOUGH TO HANDLE situations as they come to us. So, BE IN THE PICTURE AND ASK YOURSELF "IF I WAS HERE, WHAT WOULD I HAVE DONE". Whatever solutions come to your mind are your OWN ORIGINAL IDEAS which came up automatically when you assumed the CHARACTER AS YOU AND THE PROBLEM OF "HIS" AS "YOURS". Same is with SRTs. There is no "HE/SHE", BUT "YOU". The next time you read any SRT, ignore the "HE" and read it as "I". This will give more stability, maturity to your reactions! "Main wahan agar hota toh....."
